Dual Control of Coupled Oscillator Networks

Robust coordination and organization in large ensembles of nonlinear oscillatory units play a vital role wide range natural engineered system. The control self-organizing network-coupled systems has recently seen significant attention, but largely the context modifying or augmenting existing structures. This leaves gap our understanding reactive control, where how to design direct interventions, what we may learn about structure dynamics from such strategies. Here study coupled oscillator networks demonstrate dual strategies, i.e., two different mechanisms for that each be implemented on their own interchangeably achieve synchronization. These diverse strategies exploit network properties, with first directly targeting oscillators are challenging entrain, second focusing strong influence others. Thus, addition presenting alternative distinct sets illuminate oscillators' dynamical structural roles within applicability is demonstrated using both synthetic real networks.
